Greetings, dear friends. I am sure that many have never heard of kale called Kale, curly, green or in German fashion - gruenkol 😉 I also learned about it recently.
It turned out to be such a wonderful thing for a raw foodist. It contains many useful substances, but most importantly - you can make green raw food chips from it.
Delicious crispy appetizer and a fantastic addition to salads!

Before reading the recipe, I suggest learning a little about the cabbage itself.

They write that curly cabbage in Russia can be found in some supermarkets (but I don’t know, I didn’t pay attention to this before). And in Europe, this product is a common thing. Here such a variety of cabbage is widely cultivated. But until recently, I looked at her in disbelief. Green cabbage is light in weight and is sold in huge packages of 1 kilogram.
I thought, what can be done with so many? After all, I won’t eat so much!

But I was mistaken 😉 I bought it the day before yesterday, and today it is almost gone. And tomorrow I’m thinking about buying a bag again.

  • rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, iron, protein, calcium, manganese
  • contains several times more than in cabbage, potassium of the most important trace element to maintain healthy and beautiful skin
  • contains twice as much protein and fiber, which cleanses the intestines and removes toxins.
  • promotes active milk production in nursing mothers
  • cabbage juice to treat gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer

We need kale (I had 1 kg) and sauce.

For sauce, beat well with a mixer:

  • 1/2 or 1 lemon juice
  • 3-4 tablespoons of sesame oil (or another without a pronounced smell and taste)
  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • 1-2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • ground hot pepper to taste

The sauce was not enough for the whole kilogram. But just for one load in the dehydrator.

This recipe has one problem - you need to thoroughly wash the kale. It is all so corrugated, so it requires some effort).

But then everything will be easy.
Scissors to separate the soft leaves from the stems in small portions.

In a deep bowl with your hands (I did with gloves) mix the slices of cabbage with the sauce. Put them on dehydrator sheets.

Dry for 8-10 hours.

That's all. Amazing crispy green chips are ready!

If there is no green cabbage, do not be discouraged at all. Such chips can be prepared from the leaves of any salad that is taste neutral, Chinese cabbage and even white cabbage.

We ate raw chips at first just like that.

And today, for dinner, we tried these spicy chips (I put the chili peppers well) with a salad seasoned with raw-eaten mayonnaise. It turned out very tasty. No salad photo 😉
It was my improvisation, which they ate and forgot about the photo)

Step by step recipe with photo

For some time I perceived kale cabbage (also it can be found under the names curly or cale) as decorative. And recently I received from my friend a large bouquet of this cabbage and the order: "Experiment! The product is healthy." She told me to prepare a fashionable (in her words) version of chips. So right after the stew of kale, very original and delicious cabbage chips appeared on my menu. Cooking them is simple and fast!

For the preparation of kale cabbage chips (kale, curly), in addition to the cabbage itself, you will need some kind of vegetable oil (for example, olive) and spices (for example, ground peppers).

Leaves of kale cabbage need to be washed, dried and inspected for insects (I'm talking about caterpillars and slugs). Then remove from the coarse stems pieces of delicate leaves.

Sprinkle the prepared feces with vegetable oil, add chopped garlic, sprinkle with salt and pepper. I have olive oil and ground paprika, and they also praise sesame oil, dried garlic, or hot peppers. A matter of taste.

Stir the leaves so that they are evenly greased with oil and spices. Then lay them on a baking sheet covered in baking paper in one layer.

Place a baking tray with crisps of chips in a preheated oven at 150-175 degrees. After 10 minutes, they will become crispy, but this is in my oven, and you focus on your properties. One way or another, the drying time should not be more than 15 minutes.

Place the cooled ready-made kale cabbage chips in a container or bowl.
